“Scotland deserves better on cancer care”, says Alan Reid
Cancer patients in Scotland are waiting longer than ever to start treatment.
The SNP Government’s target to begin treatment within 62 days of referral has not been met since it was introduced in 2012. In June, new figures revealed the situation is the worst on record.
Despite repeated warnings, the SNP Government has failed to act. They’ve underinvested in diagnostic equipment, let staffing shortages worsen, and left patients in limbo.
Alan Reid says. “Here in Argyll & Bute, the blood cancer care service has been cut from Oban’s Lorn & The Isles Hospital forcing patients on the long trip to Glasgow.
“The SNP have let Scots down for far too long on cancer care - lives are at risk. Alan Reid and the Lib Dems are calling for urgent investment in the vital equipment and staff required for the rapid treatment which will save lives.”
