Children's tooth decay shows more NHS Dentists needed
Alan Reid called on the Scottish Government to change the NHS funding rules to attract more dentists to work for the NHS and also to train more dentists.
He was speaking after Public Health Scotland revealed their estimate that more than one in ten primary seven pupils in the NHS Highland area have untreated tooth decay.
Alan said, “The health of children’s teeth is very important, and this statistic shows that many children in the Highlands & Islands are not getting the dental treatment they need.
“The difficultly many people experience trying to get an NHS dentist must be one of the reasons for this.
“Liberal Democrats want the SNP Government to change the funding rules to attract more dentists to work for the NHS and also to train more dentists.”
